TOABH: Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis
We’ve talked about what your horse doesn’t like to do, and I don’t want to confuse this with that. I’m not talking about personality quirks or training foibles. Tell me: if you could change something (or things) about your horse, what would you?

Nilla

Outside of making her fully trained, the biggest thing I’d love to fix is her saddle conformation. I would like to be able to put saddles on her without them either not fitting, flipping forward, sliding forward and going onto her shoulders. She needs to be a bit more uphill and a bit less round and maybe actually have withers.
Dijon

Insert instinct for survival here

There are two things I’d fix about Dijon. One is his complete lack of self-preservation. The picture about is him galloping madly about despite having a bowed tendon. He has cast himself while rolling, he will fly about and do spins like a reining horse no matter how injured. He also trips over his own feet if he’s not paying attention and if he thinks another horse is getting in front of him, he will lose his mind to the extent that he has fallen off the trail.

The second thing is his bowed tendons. He’s technically healed, but there is a very high chance he’ll tear them again as he has done this twice already now.

She’s not my horse, but if I could change one thing, I’d like her to be less of a bitch. She’s not mean to people, but she hates other horses. She hates them in her space, she hates them when they’re far away but getting attention or food she thinks should be hers, she hates them all the time. It would be a lot easier if she could get along.

If we’re using magic, I’d also like to have her not get kicked in the stifle a few years ago. She’s sound, but it requires management.

Bahahah.. Less of a bitch! Good luck with that. 🙂

Archie cast in a stall a million years ago and it was one of the most horrifying things ever. Could they not?

I know! Don't you want to just wrap them in bubble wrap. Or maybe beat some sense into their heads. Dijon has also cast himself before and still likes to get as close to the fence as possible before rolling. Like the entire empty arena isn't good enough – he needs to be right up by the damned fence. That's another example of his complete lack of self-preservation.
