I love quality leather and I sometimes like cleaning/conditioning it, but non leather tack is certainly easier:

hahahaha! I have to sneak my bits into the dishwasher, I am pretty sure Johnny would shit if he saw a piece of tack in there!

My husband wasn't bothered, but we ran it as a separate load. I wouldn't add it in with dishes.
